Cloze passages challenge students to understand both the meaning and the structure of a text in order to fill in missing information. While standard comprehension exercises often involve filling in single words, this book takes the concept further by focusing on more complex tasks. Designed for high-performing students in Years 5 and 6, this book offers exercises that require matching deleted sentences to their correct positions in a passage. The texts are structured to engage a range of higher-order comprehension skills, making them a valuable practice tool for various academic tests.
The book, titled "Harder Cloze Passages," includes questions that are generally more difficult than those found in standard exercises. It covers 35 units across five different topics: Animal Kingdom, Historical Events and Individuals, Geography, and Science. The book also features a unit on Matching Headings, a different style of cloze passage question. This book is recommended for students who are up for a challenge and are preparing for various academic tests.
